Dec 18, 2024 · In case you don't know, the keyed bugle that Sax fitted with a bass clarinet mouthpiece is the ophicleide, a family of instrument referred to later in the video. This ophicleide was made by Adolphe's father, Charles Joseph Sax, about 1825. It's a bass, the most common kind. Giving it a reed mouthpiece would create what is essentially a bass saxophone.

Dec 23, 2013 · An "Adolphe Sax Saxophone" has more in common with a Couesnon or Keilwerth/Amati "Adolphe Sax Type" of Saxophone than with more modern designs. So I just suggested that if a forum section was created for "Adolphe Sax" Saxophones, then why not include the "Adolphe Sax Type" of Saxophones as well.

Great collection you have and I presume that these three saxophones - the Bari 1861, the Alto 1876 and the Tenor 1867 are all Adolphe Sax instruments -Right?
