Jan 31, 2005 · Lately I've been doing some neat two-stage flights with a 2.6" diameter rocket with a 38mm motor mount in the second stage. It uses a PerfectFlite timer which is mounted between the fins of the second stage rocket. I'm also using a PF altimeter in a …

Oct 12, 2020 · I made a 3 stage version of the Centuri Excalibur 2, which uses both kinds of staging, first stage has no gap, second stage has about a 10-inch gap, 18mm to 18mm to 13mm. I had just enough room to hide a streamer on the second stage booster inside the transition between the second stage and the third stage sustainer.

Dec 22, 2016 · My first rocket was the Estes Mongoose, a small 2 stage rocket that flew on 18mm motors. After a few flights, the booster, which is supposed to "tumble" recover, was damaged on impact. I moved the fin can to the middle of the tube, and it fluttered down with no damage.

Jul 25, 2012 · The model in the video isn't even a true staged model in the first place, it's a RACK Rocket or Chad (Cheap and Dirty) staged vehicle. Either type would have had better altitude results at 3 stages. The Suggested limit for model rockets is 3 stages.
First Attempt at 2 Stage HPR - Model Rocketry Forums
Dec 22, 2022 · The best thing is to have plenty of air speed at 1st stage burn out. This helps ensure the rocket maintains an upward vector until 2nd stage motor comes up to pressure. Starting with minimum delay is good until you get a good feel for what the rocket will do. When you run simulations, try longer delays to 2nd stage ignition to check this.

Mar 16, 2016 · My 3"-to-3" rocket didn't separate until the charge fired, and it was not a tight fit between the ISC and sustainer. My second 2-stage is 4"-to-54mm, so it seems like there will be more drag with the transition, when it was just the large Osprey 75 fins creating the drag that wasn't enough for my rocket to separate.

Jul 2, 2006 · 2) I reduced the delay times from the needed 9 - 11 second range (perfect delay time unknown since I can't sim in that bracket) to a measly 7 seconds. It stages. The problem is, that's during the booster's burn. Increasing the ejection delay to 8 seconds makes it fail to stage again. Grrr... 7.5 seconds... fails to stage.
