The Meillerwagen (English: Meiller vehicle) was a German World War II trailer used to transport a V-2 rocket from the 'transloading point' [1] [a] of the Technical Troop Area to the launching point, to erect the missile on the Brennstand (English: firing stand), [b] and to act as the service gantry for fuelling and launch preparation.

After the war, the German rocket team and many captured missiles were brought to the United States, where V-2 technology helped to build the technological base for human spaceflight and advanced strategic missiles. The V-2 was the first practical modern ballistic missile.

The Meillerwagen consisted of two major components: the transportation frame and the erecting frame. The elevating assembly was powered by a hydraulic ram. The Meillerwagen would transport the V2 to the firing site, raise it, and then be used in fueling and servicing the rocket.

Oct 10, 2022 · The Meilerwagen trailer was developed by the Peenemünde Army Research Center – Heeresversuchsanstalt Peenemünde – to transport and uplift the V2 rocket to it’s launchsite. The Meilerwagen was assembled by Italian and Russian prisoners of war from the concentration camp Rebstock, a subcamp from concentration camp Buchenwald.

The Meillerwagen was fitted with two large clamps that gripped the V2 around the airframe above the fins and also around the warhead. The launching platoon was divided into three units of 39 men each.
