SAN DIEGO — Xander Bogaerts of the San Diego Padres had a home run overturned due to fan interference, and manager Mike Shildt was ejected for coming out of the dugout to talk to the umpires in the second inning of the game against the San Francisco Giants.
The Padres’ losing streak reached four games in part as a result of the play reversal. San Diego dropped to two games out of first place.
Though the fan didn't make contact with the ball or Heliot Ramos, a review resulted in an interference call that negated a homer.

Ramón Laureano moved over from left to play center field in place of Merrill with Gavin Sheets getting his second straight start in left field. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts was also on the bench Wednesday after being hit in the hand by a pitch Tuesday night and, for the second straight day, fouling a ball off his shin.
Replay review worked in the Giants' favor during their game against the San Diego Padres on Monday at Petco Park.
