President Donald Trump was caught in a lie about the last time he spoke with California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) amid the ongoing immigration protests in Los Angeles.
Impact Social data shared with Newsweek showed a plurality—32 percent—of swing voters are responding positively to Trump's response, while 19 percent are responding negatively. Forty-nine percent are responding neutrally to Trump's approach, sharing mostly "emotionless" reaction or news articles about the protests.
Due to Newsom’s actions, administration officials said the Education Department may stop the disbursement of “formula funds” to California, according to Politico. The federal payouts are distributed to schools and school districts based on a predetermined formula to assist with education.
