The Trump administration has dropped a Biden-era lawsuit against Southwest Airlines, accusing the company of illegally operating chronically delayed flights.

DALLAS — Southwest Airlines is counting down the final days of its universal free checked bags policy, giving travelers less than a week to book flights under the airline's longstanding baggage policy that allowed passengers two free checked bags with every ticket.

Southwest Airlines will charge for checked bags and introduce a new basic fare tier, aligning with industry standards and enhancing revenue growth.

The latest change at Southwest Airlines is another adjustment to how the Dallas carrier handles bags. The employees who provide curbside baggage service, known as skycaps, are leaving several airports as part of previously announced budget cuts.

Southwest Airlines marks 20 years at Pittsburgh International, expanding from four to 20 nonstop destinations and becoming the largest carrier.
