Commercial clam fisherman David Lancaster was credited with taking the drone footage. Great white sharks are not commonly seen off the coast of Maine, although, according to the AP, scientists believe the increased population of seals has caused an uptick in the sea creature’s appearance.

Drone video showing a large great white shark near some of Maine's most popular beaches has prompted police in one coastal town to issue a warning on Tuesday. The warning was issued just weeks after there were multiple great white sightings in an area of Maine where a woman was fatally attacked by a shark five years ago.
