Heavy rain is falling across the Kansas City area, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for parts of the metro. The weather service issued the warning shortly after 1:10 p.m. Tuesday for southeastern Atchison, Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties in Kansas and Platte County in Missouri.

"Turn around, don't drown," said the NWS, telling drivers to avoid driving into flooded areas, with Kansas and Oklahoma set to be worst affected.

Some two million people were under a flash flood warning in the two states as several inches of rain fell, trapping some in their cars.
