One night after becoming the first rookie to produce a four-homer game as part of a historic 6-for-6 performance, Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz finished 2-for-4 with a walk in a 5-1 win Saturday over the host Houston Astros.
The right-hander gave the bullpen a bit of a breather by fighting threw six innings, but A’s hitters battered him for 11 hits and five runs. He relied mostly on his changeup and sinker, throwing them a combined 69 times. The sinker drew 21 swings with only one whiff.
