WhatsApp has emerged as a key arena for AI chatbot competition, posing a potential threat to Meta Platforms Inc.'s (NASDAQ: META) AI dominance.
WhatsApp can help you create images via AI. Here's how. One of WhatsApp’s recent updates added the ability to generate AI images within the app via Meta AI.
Meta AI is a popular generative AI platform that has over 1 billion active users. It is available across all Meta platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
And it doesn’t stop with the app. Meta AI is now built into platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram. But unlike regular messages, AI chats aren’t protected by end-to-end encryption.
WhatsApp owner Meta already offers a web-based AI Studio tool that enables users to create, customize, and deploy AI-powered chatbots across Meta's services like Instagram and Messenger.
"Meta AI is trained on a combination of licensed and publicly available datasets, not on the phone numbers people use to register for WhatsApp or their private conversations," the spokesperson said.
Meta's move to bring more ads into WhatsApp isn't happening in a vacuum; this move is part of a much larger shift across the company's platforms toward AI-powered advertising and monetization.
