The only reason Arishem wanted sapient life to develop and flourish was to feed the birth of fresh Celestials, such as Tiamut the Communicator, whose Emergence would destroy the planet.

The culminating event of Eternals was the titular group coming together to stop the Emergence of Tiamut the Communicator. After defeating him, the heroes simply left his body in the ocean.
