The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday sidestepped resolving a major issue across class action litigation, turning aside an appeal that could have made it harder for plaintiffs lawyers to bring together groups of people to sue companies and others for alleged wrongdoing.

The U.S. Supreme Court dismissed as "improvidently granted" a case Thursday dealing with the proper size of class actions that federal courts may certify.

The US Supreme Court agreed to hear several cases corporate America brought seeking to rein in class actions this term only to later say they shouldn’t have taken the appeals.
