The Minnesota Vikings got an exceptional year from Sam Darnold, and he's starting to win awards for his performance.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold was named the NFL’s Most Improved Player on Friday, a vote done by the Pro Football Writers of America.

Darnold signed with the Vikings ahead of the 2024 season, inking a one-year, $10 million contract with the NFC North squad. Before joining the Vikings, Darnold played three years for the New York Jets, two years for the Carolina Panthers and one with the San Francisco 49ers .

Signed by the Vikings in March on a one-year, $10 million deal, Darnold — starting over injured rookie J.J. McCarthy, who underwent surgery for his meniscus during preseason — helped lead Minnesota to a 14-3 regular season record that boasted a nine-game win streak.

Sam Darnold has led the Vikings' quarterback room all season, but the team does have some depth ready behind him.
