The New Orleans Saints have used their second pick in the NFL draft on a quarterback amid lingering uncertainty about Derek Carr's future with the franchise.

The 6-foot-5 slinger out of Hamilton High School (Chandler, Ariz.)was part of the 2018 class, which included names like Trevor Lawrence and Brock Purdy. Originally, Shough committed to Oregon, where he eventually started seven games, but entered the transfer portal after that pandemic-gripped 2020 season.

With the No. 40 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected Tyler Shough out of Louisville. Shough falls into one of my pet peeves for NFL prospects. He’ll turn 26 on September 28th, making him a poor investment for a team looking for a future starting quarterback.
