As the Russia-Ukraine War enters 2025, drone technology will continue to evolve, with both sides increasingly incorporating swarm technology into their drone fleets.

Ukrainian forces have gone on the offensive in the Kursk region of Russia, Ukrainian and Russian officials said Sunday, in what appeared to be an effort to regain the initiative there as they struggle to thwart relentless Russian assaults across eastern Ukraine.

Russia launched 38 Shahed-type attack drones and unidentified dummy drones against Ukraine overnight, the Air Force reported. Twenty-eight drones were shot down, and 10 were lost in the airspace, according to the statement.

Kursk could be used as a bargaining chip in any future peace negotiations, it has been suggested.
