A loud noise that startled residents in Clive and across the metro area was identified as a B-1 Lancer bomber from the Grand Forks Air Force Base.
The noise came from a B-1 Lancer military aircraft, the Des Moines International Airport told the Register on Wednesday. The aircraft has four F-16 engines, which contribute to the noise.
