The White House on Wednesday tried to clarify some of Donald Trump‘s remarks about the United States taking over the Gaza strip. Trump’s remarks a day earlier sent shockwaves throughout Washington and the Middle East,

The White House said President Trump has not committed to sending troops to Gaza and that he won’t spend U.S. funds rebuilding it. His comments suggested otherwise the previous day.

Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians out of Gaza and take over the territory was rejected by several foreign nations including Saudi Arabia, Turkey and China.
