PALM BEACH, Fla. — Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has listened to the cacophony of noise about the tush push. It grew deafening this week at the NFL Annual Meeting inside and outside the ballrooms at the posh Breakers hotel resort.
A decision on the future of the tush push has been pushed until next month. NFL team owners had been set to vote Tuesday on Green Bay's proposal to ban the play that's helped the Philadelphia Eagles win one Super Bowl and reach another,
Kahler noted the Eagles and Buffalo Bills were the only two teams to run it more than five times during the 2024 campaign. The tush push accounted for only 0.28 percent of all plays during the season.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell gave his input on the controversy surrounding the tush push and the discussion of its potential ban at the NFL owners meetings.
"NFL owners have approved a tweak to league rules for flexing Thursday night games on Amazon Prime, reducing the window for notifying teams of a change to 21 days," Seifert wrote. "The window had been 28 days since the rule was enacted in a contentious vote before the 2023 season."
The NFL did not ban the tush push at the league meeting today, but it might soon ban all plays in which players get pushed and pulled by other players.
