CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Guardians’ right-handed pitcher Tanner Bibee will not play on Opening Day due to illness, according to reports. The Athletic reports Bibee has acute gastroenteritis and will not start Thursday. According to The Athletic, Ben Lively will start in Bibee’s place.

Right-hander Tanner Bibee has signed a $48 million, five-year contract with the Cleveland Guardians, a deal that includes a team option for 2030 and could be worth $68 million over six seasons.
