Connor McDavid had four assists and the Edmonton Oilers wrapped up a playoff spot with a 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Friday night.

Bouchard put Edmonton ahead 1-0 on the power play at 6:47 of the first period, one-timing a 91.3 mph slap shot from the high slot off a pass from McDavid in past Romanov, after it deflected off the stick of Sharks forward Alexander Wennberg.

The undermanned Edmonton Oilers avoided another big blow to their lineup with the announcement that Darnell Nurse has been suspended for only the regular-season finale. That makes him eligible for a return to the lineup for the opening game of their first-round series against the Los Angeles Kings.

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Tuesday evening that Edmonton Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse has been suspended one game for cross-checking Los Angeles Kings forward Quinton Byfield.
