The San Jose Sharks found a new way to lose a third-period lead Friday. Up by a goal with less than 19 minutes left in regulation time, the Sharks allowed shorthanded goals to defenseman Brayden McNabb and center Jack Eichel in 23 seconds in what became a 6-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights at SAP Center.

On Smith’s goal at the 5:53 mark of the second period, Celebrini created a turnover in the neutral zone. With an extra effort by Celebrini, the puck came back to Smith, who sent a no-look pass back to Celebrini before he charged the net. Celebrini put a shot on goal and then sent a pass to Smith, who knocked it across the line for his sixth goal.

After a wild third period, the Vegas Golden Knights dominated while shorthanded to stay hot against the San Jose Sharks.

The 2024 No. 1 pick is third in rookie scoring with 11 goals and 14 assists in 25 games. He's the only rookie in the NHL to have a point-a-game average. Philadelphia Flyers star rookie Matvei Michkov leads all rookies with 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists).
