For the first time in program history, the Texas Longhorns softball team are National Champions. This was UT's eight trip to the Women's College World Series. The Horns jumped all over Texas Tech ace NiJaree Canady for five runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Red Raiders legend and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II was in attendance for Game 2 of Texas Tech-Texas alongside his wife Brittany. This has become the norm for Mahomes, who often attends sporting events of his favorite teams with his wife. He frequents Texas Tech games and even makes his way to Dallas to support the Mavericks fairly often.

NiJaree Canady has the Red Raiders on the brink of their first national title, and she'll be returning to Lubbock on another seven-figure deal.
