It's Super Regional Saturday across college baseball with four teams hoping to punch their tickets to the College World Series after Game 1 wins in various series on Friday. Four other series begin play on Saturday, including the mammoth all-SEC showdown pitting Arkansas and defending national champion Tennessee.
UNC is aiming to advance to the College World Series in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2008-09. Right-handed pitcher Jason DeCaro (9-3, 3.50 ERA) will be UNC's starting pitcher against Arizona in Game 2. DeCaro was the Tar Heels' big-game pitcher as a freshman, coming through in several postseason games.
• Lexi Evans (Scripps Ranch) of Cal Poly won back-to-back women’s pole vault championships, clearing a Big West Conference-record 15 feet, 5 1/4 inches at the NCAA West Prelims. She qualified for the NCAA Championships and finished 14th overall.
