Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies did something Sunday that some may have seen as fairly embarrassing: They misplaced a weapon.

On July 12, between approximately 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., as deputies were responding to a call in the Lennox area, they realized their Colt M4 rifle and five magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds of .

Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s South L.A. Station announced that an assault rifle, along with 150 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition that went missing from the trunk a patrol vehicle has been recovered.
