The biggest story by far heading into and during this game was that Mets slugger Juan Soto was returning to Yankee Stadium for the first time since choosing the Mets over the Yankees in free agency this past offseason.

Eager to play hero, unlike in his previous at-bats, where his patience paid off, Soto swung at the only two pitches he saw against Yankees closer Luke Weaver. The first, he fouled off, and the second he lined to center field for the third and final out of the game.
