Nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday after US pressure and diplomacy, announcing a sudden stop to a conflict that had seemed to be spiralling alarmingly. But within hours, violations were reported from the main cities of Indian Kashmir, the territory that had borne the brunt of four days of fighting.

The first word of the truce came from U.S. President Donald Trump, who posted on his Truth Social platform that he was pleased to announce that India and Pakistan had agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. “Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

India has accused Pakistan of attacking three of its military bases with drones and missiles, a claim which has been denied by Islamabad. The Indian Army said it had foiled Pakistan's attempts to attack its bases in Jammu and Udhampur,

India has destroyed Pakistani drone launch pads in the Neelam Valley, opposite the Kishanganga area, during Phase 3 of Operation Sindhu. The Indian military used weapon locating radars to precisely target Pakistani posts used for launching drones against Indian civilians and military installations.
