The Missouri River is expected to rise above flood stage, according to the Missouri Levee and Drainage District Association (MLDDA).

Over the years, the City of Huntsville has completed flood mitigation projects to lower the flood threat in the city, but also to protect its residents. Meteorologist Jessica Camuto sat down with the city to see what goes into flood prevention.

The Kansas City Fire Department says its 18 water rescues involved cars stuck in high water. Flooding was reported in Merriam, Kansas, along Brush Creek near The Plaza and in Kansas City's West Bottoms.

A flash flood warning was in effect in New York City until 9:45 p.m., and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency. Middlesex, Morris and Somerset counties remained under a flood warning until 7:15 a.m. Tuesday.

A flood watch was released by the NWS Newport/Morehead City NC on Thursday at 2:15 p.m. valid from Friday 3 p.m. until Saturday 4 a.m. The watch is for Mainland Dare, Mainland Hyde, Northern Outer Banks and Hatteras Island as well as Martin,

The system that brought extreme amounts of rainfall throughout the night and into this morning is pushing southeast out of the area. For the most part, the metro and points northward, rain has mainly come to an end.

The Kansas City metro got between five and eight inches of rain overnight, according to the Kansas City Fire Department. KCFD says it responded to 23 water rescues through 8 a.m. after many low-lying roadways became overrun and flooded with standing water.

Maryland's Department of Public Works approved $241 million for projects in the state, including $5.2 million for flood management efforts.
