AT&T bought DirecTV for $48.5 billion in 2015 but the merged company's performance didn't go as planned. After years of major subscriber losses, AT&T spun off its satellite TV division but still owns 70 percent of DirecTV.
Disney, DirecTV end blackouts; working on new multi-year deal for carrying channels
DirecTV and Disney on Saturday announced an agreement in principle to end their carriage dispute. DirecTV said it is working to finalize a new multi-year contract. All channels were immediately restored to DirecTV satellite, streaming and U-verse customers, according to the company.
