Lafayette Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler and a sedan. According to the LPD, Lafayette Police Traffic Investigators said the crash occurred about 1:59 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of NW Evangeline Thwy and Chalmette Drive.

A passenger in a car was killed and the driver fled the scene after a crash in Lafayette involving an 18-wheeler.

Clarence Thomas Bibbins of Milwaukee, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had been T-boned by a motorist driving about 80 mph through an intersection with a stop sign, according to a report from the medical examiner.

The vehicle taken in the robbery, being pursued by police, collided into another vehicle containing a 60-year-old driver, who died at the scene, and an unidentified passenger, who was taken to a hospital with serious injuries,
