Alaska plane crash: Bering Air Caravan carrying 10 people is missing
The Cessna Caravan left Unalakleet at 2:37 p.m., and officials lost contact with it less than an hour later, according to David Olson, director of operations for Bering Air. The aircraft was 12 miles (19 kilometers) offshore, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Search crews found three people dead amid the wreckage and presumed the other seven were also dead, but said they were inaccessible because of the condition of the plane, the Coast Guard said.
The Bering Air Caravan, carrying 10 people and flying from Unalakleet to Nome, was reported overdue Thursday afternoon.
