GRAND FORKS — Western Michigan forward Alex Bump finished off a brilliant weekend by scoring two more goals and tallying three points in the Broncos' 5-1 win over UND in the series finale. Bump had four goals and five points during Western Michigan's two-game sweep.

The North Dakota Hockey team received a point in the NCHC standings by taking the fourth-ranked Western Michigan Broncos to overtime, but the Broncos would get the last laugh, scoring in overtime to win the series opener.

No. 14/16 North Dakota dropped a 5-1 decision to No. 4/5 Western Michigan on Saturday night from a sold-out Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D. UND (12-10-1, 7-5-0 NCHC) could not overcome a 3-0 deficit,

Western Michigan threw 42 shots on goal — the highest number UND has allowed in a regulation game under 10th-year coach Brad Berry. UND allowed 54 to Minnesota Duluth in the 2021 NCAA regional final, but that game lasted five overtimes. The Bulldogs had 21 at the end of regulation that night.
