Southwest Airlines has started warning passengers about the use of power banks on flights.It's set to introduce a new safety policy next week.The change comes after an Air Busan plane caught fire when a power bank overheated in January.
Southwest Airlines will soon be requiring passengers to keep portable chargers visible while in use due to concerns about lithium battery fires.
According to the Dallas Morning News, last year there were 89 "incidents" with lithium battery chargers and so far this year there have been 19. While incidents remain rare, Southwest Airlines claims that chargers being left out will be easier to monitor and get to if something happens.
