One of our biggest hopes for the Switch 2, that it would allow for improved versions of Switch 1 games, has seemingly been confirmed by Nintendo — here's all we know

The bit of fine print that's alerted everyone to Switch 2 edition games existing came attatched to the "Virtual Game Card" system Ninty revealed at yesterday's original Switch-focused Direct - there's more on that here. Naturally, after telling us that feature was coming, Nintendo put a webpage live that offers more info about how it works.

We'd expect Nintendo's "Switch 2 Edition" games will be broadly similar to the systems set up by Sony and Microsoft in recent years. We'll likely find out for sure when Nintendo reveals many more details about the system in a livestreamed video presentation planned for April 2.
