"Thirty-five kids who will win bikes on Saturday, help them have that childhood experience, that's something because of our friends in the community who help us make it affordable," she said.

The bikes were donated courtesy of D.C. Bike Ride, the organization behind the annual 20-mile citywide cycling event. The helmets were donated by the Bell brand.
