Kaapo Kakko scored twice in the third period, Joey Daccord made 33 saves and the Seattle Kraken overcame an early two-goal deficit to beat the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 on Saturday.

The Kraken have gone 5-1 versus Buffalo in their three-season history, although Buffalo won the most recent matchup, 6-2, last March in Seattle. This season’s series will conclude at Climate Pledge Arena on Jan. 20, kicking off a four-game western trip for the Sabres.

The second period hasn’t always been kind to the Buffalo Sabres. They own a minus-12 goal differential in the middle frame and the Kraken took advantage and responded.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen wasn't able to bail out the Sabres when they began to make mistakes in the second period. Their starting goalie was outplayed by Penguins backup Alex Nedeljkovic, as Pittsburgh scored four consecutive goals and held on for a 5-2 win in KeyBank Center.
