Day 6 of the Australian Open saw a number of big names in men's and women's singles easily advance to the next round. But one major loss was No. 7-ranked Jessica Pegula, who was defeated in two sets by Serbian Olga Danilović.

Jessica Pegula is into the second round of the 2025 Australian Open successfully after easing past rising star Maya Joint who had no answers for her vastly more experienced opponent losing 6-3, 6-0 in Melbourne.

Jessica Pegula marked her return from injury with a comfortable straight-sets win against Maria Sakkari at Adelaide International.

Pegula, who last played at the WTA Finals in November, improved her record against Sakkari to 6-5 as the Greek player works her way back from a shoulder injury. “It’s always tough getting the first win of the year, you don’t know what to expect,” said Pegula.
