Steve Witkoff, President-elect Donald Trump’s designated Middle East special envoy, said Tuesday he has been in Qatar “working in tandem” with Biden administration negotiators on a last-ditch effort to reach a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza.

Steve Witkoff, President-elect Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, said on Tuesday that he was “really hopeful” that they were “on the verge of a deal” to announce the return of the hostages by Inauguration Day.

Witkoff said that he if did not travel back to Doha to join hostage talks on Tuesday night, he would head there on Wednesday night.

"I think that we've had some really great progress, and I'm really hopeful that by the inaugural, we'll have some good things to announce on behalf of the president," Steve Witkoff said.
