As May approaches, Social Security beneficiaries in the United States are preparing for their monthly payments. The distribution schedule varies, with some retirees receiving their checks earlier than others.

Some Social Security recipients will receive two payments in May. More than 7.4 million recipients of Supplemental Security Income, administered by the Social Security Administration, will be paid Thursday, May 1 and then again on Friday, May 30. The second May payment is due to June 1 – the regular payment date- falling on a Sunday.
