According to the lawsuit, Feagins is suing for violations of the Tennessee Open Meetings Act. Feagins does not address the contract violations that the board found in the termination resolution in the complaint, but instead said the board violated public meetings laws through texts and private meetings.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former Memphis-Shelby County School (MSCS) Superintendent Dr. Marie Feagins is suing the board, according to court documents. Feagins is accusing the board of violating the Tennessee Open Meetings Act and conspiring to oust her.

All nine MSCS school board members are listed in the lawsuit and accused of violating the Open Meetings Act, which gives the public rights to attend and observe public meetings.
