The reputation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has significantly changed in the last five years, with blockbusters not getting the same kind of warm reception from critics as those released pre-Avengers: Endgame and titles unable to replicate prior levels of buzz,

Brave New World this weekend. It’s been six years since Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson was bequeathed the vibranium shield by Steve Rogers in the final reel of Avengers: Endgame – and finally, following the events of streaming series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier – the former sidekick stepped up as the new Captain America in Brave New World.

Brave New World has become the third highest-grossing Captain America film, having minted $192 million at the global box office. In the US, the film has reportedly grossed $100 million, with the rest of the collection coming from international markets.

Brave New World, earning $88.5 million over the weekend with a projected $100 million domestically by Presidents’ Day (per Variety). Internationally, the film earned an additional $92.4 million, for a $192 million opening through Monday.
