A community is in distress, and emotions are running high over the recent ICE detainment of Jeanette Vizguerra, a well-known immigration activist in Colorado.

An undocumented mother and high-profile activist was detained by ICE while she was on a work break from her job at Target, her attorney and a family friend say.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston decried Vizguerra’s detention as an abuse of power and “Putin-style persecution of political dissidents.”
