A community is in distress, and emotions are running high over the recent ICE detainment of Jeanette Vizguerra, a well-known immigration activist in Colorado.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston decried Vizguerra’s detention as an abuse of power and “Putin-style persecution of political dissidents.”

Colorado politicians are denouncing the arrest of a Mexican immigrant activist, noting her decades of living in her local community and lack of criminal history.  Sen. Michael Bennet (D) called
