A runaway pet zebra that was on the loose for more than a week in Tennessee and became an internet sensation in the process was captured Sunday, authorities said.

Ed the Zebra, who was on the loose for more than a week in Tennessee, has been found and returned home “safe and 100% healthy.” Crews located the runaway pet zebra in a rural area and airlifted him by helicopter to an animal trailer nearby.

Celebrity Zebra Ed was rescued safely Sunday. Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is happy to report Tango 82 aviation crews located Zebra Ed and returned him to his owner. Ed was located in a pasture located near a subdivision not far from Interstate 24.
