The first in a series of storms is passing through Southern California tonight with a second storm moving in and more precipitation forecast for next week, prompting concerns of mud and debris flows in recent burn scars.

Due to the rain expected this week, protective measures including K-rails and sandbags have been placed near hillsides and around homes to keep the debris and mud from causing catastrophic damage to the homes still standing.

There are growing concerns tonight that rain in areas devastated by the Eaton Fire will cause debris and mudflows, with preparations already underway to protect the area. Carlos Saucedo reports Feb. 4,
