An Air India passenger plane carrying more than 200 people crashed after taking off from an airport in the Indian city of Ahmedabad on Thursday.

Boeing was generating optimism. Then on Thursday a 787 crashed, raising the specter of fresh problems for Boeing and altering the message it planned to send.

Seven people have died in a helicopter crash in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. According to the BBC, a helicopter carrying visitors to a number of Hindu religious pilgrimage sites in the Himalayan mountains crashed on Sunday, June 15, during what would have been a 10-minute flight.

The only survivor of Air India Flight 171 was born on a tropical island dotted with palm trees and fishing boats. So were 14 passengers who died in the crash.

Air India and the Indian government were looking at issues linked to its engine thrust, flaps, and why the landing gear remained open as the plane took off and then came down.

Close on the heels of the mishap involving an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, a domestic flight of the airline carrying 168 passengers developed a technical issue immediately after take-off from Delhi to Vadodara on Sunday evening.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national, appears to be the only survivor of Air India flight 171, which crashed with 242 people aboard.
