Toyota Motor Corporation has developed a Pre-collision System (PCS) with collision avoidance assist that is effective in more than 90% of speed ranges in rear-end collisions.

If the system determines a collision cannot be avoided by braking alone, and there is sufficient room for avoidance, steer assist is activated to steer the vehicle away from the pedestrian.
