Major flash flooding in New Mexico has resulted in three deaths, property destruction, road closures, and evacuations.

Torrential rain in New Mexico led to unprecedented and historic flooding in the community of Ruidoso on Tuesday, leading to the deaths of at least three people, including two children, as well as dozens of swift water rescues.

Emergency crews have so far carried out at least 85 swift water rescues after dramatic rise in Rio Ruidoso’s water levels brought on by torrential monsoon rains

A Texas family making an annual summer trip to their cabin in northern New Mexico attempted to flee in a vehicle but were swept away and killed.
