California Gov. Gavin Newsom slammed his own party, calling the Democratic brand "toxic" and saying his side of the aisle needs to "mature" on Bill Maher's "Real Time" Friday.

The governor stood by a new California law that prohibits schools from requiring staff to disclose a student’s gender identity or sexuality to their parents.

Gavin Newsom told Bill Maher "the Democratic brand is toxic right" -- because of cancel culture. In his interview at the top of Friday's "Real Time with Bill Maher," the California governor also called for the party to rebrand.
