Several children were killed in an Israeli airstrike at a water distribution point in central Gaza Sunday, health officials said, one of several deadly incidents in the territory that come as ceasefire talks in Doha falter.

The Israeli military said the strike had intended to hit a militant but a malfunction had caused it to fall “dozens of metres from the target”.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) -At least eight Palestinians, most of them children, were killed and more than a dozen others were wounded in central Gaza on Sunday, local officials said, in an Israeli missile strike which the military said missed its intended target.
