AUSTIN, Texas — A Texas Senate committee discussed a bill Monday that would ban all forms of THC, the primary psychoactive compound in marijuana. Texas Senate Bill 3, backed by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, aims to address concerns that unregulated THC products are being sold in stores across the state.

In 2021, the Senate failed trying to pass a ban on delta-8 and THC products, but now Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says it's a priority this session.

Senate Bill 3 has cleared committee and is now headed to the full Senate for a vote. The legislation seeks to ban the sale of all consumable hemp products containing THC, the psychoactive compound found in cannabis.
